לכבד החכמים
The verse · Vayikra 19:32
מִפְּנֵי שֵׂיבָה תָּקוּם וְהָדַרְתָּ פְּנֵי זָקֵן וְיָרֵאתָ מֵּאֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲנִי ה׳
“Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the Lord.”
The Rambam’s words
To honor the Sages, as [Leviticus 19:32] states: "Rise before an elder."
