To render judgment [in questions] regarding a borrower

The verse · Shemot 22:13
וְכִי־יִשְׁאַל אִישׁ מֵעִם רֵעֵהוּ וְנִשְׁבַּר אוֹ־מֵת בְּעָלָיו אֵין־עִמּוֹ שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם
“And if a man borrow aught of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make it good.”

To render judgment [in questions] regarding a borrower, as [Exodus 22:13] states: "If a person will borrow from a colleague...."
לדון בדין השואל, שנאמר: "וכי ישאל איש מעם ריעהו" (שמות כב,יג).
