Negative commandment · Lo Ta’aseh #134 of 613
For not even a tenant or a hired worker employed by a priest to partake of terumah
The verse · Vayikra 22:10
“No stranger shall eat of the holy thing: a tenant of a priest, or a hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.”
The Rambam’s words
For not even a tenant or a hired worker employed by a priest to partake of terumah, as [Leviticus 22:10] states: "A tenant of a priest or [his] hired worker shall not eat the holy [food]."
Why · Sefer HaChinuch #281
That the boarder of a priest and the hired worker not eat priestly tithe
“The root of the commandment and all of its content is included in the previous commandment, since the reason for their prohibition is that they are considered like “foreigners,” since he is not his acquired property — as “the boarder” is the perennial worker, and “the hired worker” is the annual worker. (See Yevamot 70a.)”
