Not to eat on the day of the fast [of Yom Kippur]
שלא לאכול ביום הצום
The verse · Vayikra 23:29
כִּי כׇל־הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תְעֻנֶּה בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וְנִכְרְתָה מֵעַמֶּיהָ
“For whatever person shall not be afflicted on that same day, he shall be cut off from his people.”
The Rambam’s words
Not to eat on the day of the fast [of Yom Kippur], as [Leviticus 23:29] states: "For any person who does not afflict himself [on that day]...."
