Negative commandment · Lo Ta’aseh #293 of 613
To not have concern about the pursuer
The verse · Devarim 25:12
“then thou shalt cut off her hand, thy eye shall not pity her.”
The Rambam’s words
Not to have pity on a pursuer. Rather, he should be killed before he kills or rapes the person he is pursuing, as [Deuteronomy 25:12] states: "And you shall cut off her hand. Show no pity."
Why · Sefer HaChinuch #601
To not have concern about the pursuer
“And the roots of the commandment and its content is elucidated — as is the custom of the book — in its positive commandment (Sefer HaChinukh 600) in this Order.”
