Not to work on the first day of the festival [of Sukkot]
שלא לעשות מלאכה בראשון של חג
The verse · Vayikra 23:35
בַּיּוֹם הָרִאשׁוֹן מִקְרָא־קֹדֶשׁ כׇּל־מְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ
“On the first day shall be a holy gathering: you shall do no servile work.”
The Rambam’s words
Not to work on the first day of the festival [of Sukkot], as [Leviticus 23:35] states concerning it: "Do not do any servile work."
שלא לעשות מלאכה בראשון של חג, שנאמר בו "כל מלאכת עבודה, לא תעשו" (ויקרא כג,לה; ויקרא כג,לו; במדבר כט,יב).
